Manchester United have announced the signing of Belgium international Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa in a deal worth £35 million.
Tielemans becomes the club’s second midfield addition of the summer after the £50m arrival of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old spent two seasons at Villa following a free transfer from Leicester City in 2023, making 134 appearances and registering 10 goals during his time in the West Midlands.
He also played a key role in Villa’s recent success under Unai Emery, memorably opening the scoring in last term’s Europa League final victory over Freiburg.
Tielemans relishing ‘incredible’ move
In an official club statement, Tielemans expressed his delight at signing for the Red Devils, saying: “It’s hard to describe just how proud I am to join Manchester United.
“Signing for such a special club feels incredible. It is the culmination of years of dedication since I first fell in love with football.
“I have had the privilege of experiencing success in the game and it has only increased my determination to achieve more.
